We Are Called to Serve
WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE
God did not call us to change the governments of the world. He called us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to be a witness to the world, a light on a hill, and the salt of the earth. Our duty as Christians is to get the gospel to the whole world. Some of you may be saying, "Look, I am not a preacher or a teacher. I am not a missionary or an evangelist; therefore, How can I take the gospel to the whole world?
I can't build a car from scratch, but I own one. I don't have the know-how to be a farmer, but I eat every day. I do not know how to make fabric or sew them together to make my clothes, but I wear clothes every day.
I may not make the cars, grow the food, or make clothes, yet I help those doing it when I buy a new car, food, and clothes. The same principle works in taking the gospel to the whole world. You are taking the gospel to the whole world when you give an offering to those who are, whether it be your church, the evangelist, or a missionary. You are doing your part when you give your tithes and offerings, and you volunteer your talent to help somehow. When you donate to them, you are doing your part. When you pay your tithes and give an offering, you do your part. Pray for those in the harvest field or volunteer for a specific job or position in your church or some ministry; you are fulfilling your role in the body of Christ. When we do, God will bless us.
Jesus did not tell us to go out and save the government, but he told us to pray for those who govern us and pay our taxes. We are to love and help our neighbors and care for the widows and the orphans. We are to feed the hungry. Care for the sick and the elderly. When we do this, we are building treasures in heaven.
And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward [2 Cor. 3:4].
Pg 2
This gives me confidence.
Dr. J. Vernon McGee once said:
"I know the Bible is the Word of God. When I was in seminary, I believed it was the Word of God. I think that intellectually it can be determined that it is the Word of God. But today, I don't even need the intellectual demonstrations anymore. I've passed that. To me, it is very simple—the proof of the Word of God is what it does. They say that the proof of the pudding is in the eating."
God put it like this: "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! …" (Ps. 34:8). This is His challenge to you.
Our first and most important goal in life is to tell the world that Jesus Christ gave up His heavenly throne to become a man, a human being like you and me. He took on this form only for one reason, and that reason was to save the world. He did not come to save the world's governments but to save you and me. With TV and the internet at our fingers tips, it is so easy to get caught up in the lies and deception of politics and news media. But it is also just as easy to share the gospel with someone online.
It is easy to tell someone what God has done for you and your family online.
Now is not the time to sit on our hands and wait for the right moment to come our way for us to share the good news of Jesus Christ. If we know that the word of God is true, then why are we not sharing it with others?
Why are not churches preaching that hell is real and is hot and very tormenting and eternal? Why are they not preaching and teaching that unless we repent and accept Christ and our Savior, we will spend eternity there without a shadow of a doubt? Hell is just as real as the Rocky Mountains are.
Why are you supporting a church that does not sound the fire alarm? Are we that selfish that we won't share God's most precious gift to humanity?
God sent his only Son to die for our sins.
Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Pg.3
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God
When Jesus came to this earth the first time, he did not condemn the world; He did not punish anyone or sentence anyone to hell. He did not come as a judge. And even to this day, he has not judged man or woman for their sins.
Why has he not judged us for our sins? The answer is simple; he loves us so much that he allows us to make our eternal choice. We, you, and I get to choose heaven or hell. It is that simple We get to decide whether or not we want to serve Christ and spend eternity with him, or we can make a choice not to accept Jesus as our Savior and make hell, The lake of fire, our eternal home.
No one can make that choice for you. Not mom or dad, grandparents, uncles and aunts, brothers or sisters, your friend, and not even your pastor or Sunday school teacher can make that choice for you.
Now that is LOVE. You and only you get to choose your eternal destination, but the catch is you must make that choice now while you are still alive. No, you cannot try it out first to see if you will like it. Once you die, that is it, you can not repent, and you will go to the eternal home that you chose. You may say, but I didn't choose either way. Not choosing is the same as rejecting Christ, so your eternal home is the lake of fire.
Jn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
We live in the last days, and our time is very short, and we need to make the most of what time we have left. Now is the time to repent and turn from our sins and wicked ways. Now is the time to do our part to win souls for Christ Jesus and help take the gospel to the whole world.
I leave you with the words of Jesus Christ:
Pg 4
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city
Revelations 22:12-14 KJV
